ELISABET NEY NATURE DAY 2021!
Saturday February 27, 1 - 4 PM
Hey folks!
In respect to Mother Nature and her stern commentary this week, we've decided to MOVE Nature Day to Saturday February 27, at the same time, 1-4PM. It's still going to be a great event, with lots of really cool virtual activities for you and your family. Here's a reminder of what we have in store!
Bring Austin’s plentiful flora and fauna to you with Elisabet Ney's Nature Day via Zoom!! On February 27 from 1 to 4 pm, local artists Barbara Attwell, Jade Walker, and Delilah Knuckley along with museum education staff will do nature arts demos! We'll also have an activity led by the Austin Nature and Science Center, and a guided video tour of the Ney's historic prairie and diverse ecosystem. This event will really wow kids and adults alike!
Elisabet Ney was a devout naturalist, drawing inspiration from her resolutely native natural surroundings. It's changed some--it's in a city now(!)--but there's still a ton of inspiration to find and share!
All of the artists' supply lists and instructions are provided below so you can prepare for the activities in advance. You can also learn more about the Ney's diverse ecosystem by visiting http://theney.org/ecology and the history of the museum's landscape: http://theney.org/history-of-the-land. If you have any questions, feel free to email our Education Coordinator at lindsay.barras@austintexas.gov.
We do wish you the best possible fortune in the days between now and then. Sursum!
See you Saturday February 27!
